PWR is the missing link between Forecefield and Young Jeezy. The
cavernous bassdrum of the former combined with the sublime etherical
tones of the later. Or vice versa. Anyway, PWR is a cosmic force of
nature beyond such pityful human concepts as time, space, words and
recording technique.
PWR is a solo project by Rasmus Svensson, who also play in bands such
as Smycken (Night People, Utmarken, Psychic Malmö), Taras bulba
(Scumbag Relations) Full på folköl (ormolycka) and, formerly, in Chaos

Martha Colburn : MYTH LABS
Martha Colburn: what would Jesus do (with a bag of drugs)?
Martin Luther dancing while smoking crack, young women injecting drugs into painfully raw veins, and historical religious fanatics sporting baseball hats reading “I Love Jesus” while carrying wads of cash are just a few of the contentious figures featured in Martha Colburn’s new seven-minute film, Myth Labs, 2008, on sale at Galerie Diana Stigter (A19). The New York- based, self-taught artist is known for using hand-painted cut-out figures and old-school animation techniques to create provocative films that address topical religious, political and socio- economic issues.
In Myth Labs, which took Colburn nine months to complete, she uses the drug crystal meth as a metaphor for the many ills that plague US society, including narcotic abuse, poverty and various forms of oppression as well as religious extremism.
The artist has juxtaposed Biblical, historical and contemp- orary images to illustrate these “vices”. One scene depicts the Pilgrim Fathers attempting to convert the indigenous population to Christianity. As well as the artist’s film, there are four installations incorporating the cut- out figures that appear in the film.

they are not just finger exercises, because several of them are small masterpieces.
within all these variations in form, the maker remains true to her theme.
her characters still do not allow themselves to be led by reason. certainly nmot in love.

Albero Rovesciato’s members are native to the mystic isles off Italy but now they roam Berlin, presumably because they have smashed all the percussion instruments in their homeland. All we know is we’re glad we located them with some remaining objects and intact drums, because few troupes can make us simultaneously smile with delight and scamper for cover when they rev up like this. They emerge from the badass Italian sound collective Phonorama, so we know they mean business once they open their trick bags and begin spilling out wares of leftfield musique concrete & cybertimes junkyard gamelan. Before-and-after shots of their performance spaces provide evidence that a typical Albero live action reduces much of their tools to splinters & powder. This isn’t to imply that things are sloppy, however. Not for a second. Crystal recording fidelity on ‘Ancient Shining Drums’ benefits the wheezing-blurting-whacking fits of OCD voodoo, ensuring that we have never heard chaos sound so lean & tangible before. ONEMANNATION (singapore) a performance that transmitted a deep narrative feeling of geopolitical disenchantment, ingrained into dark textures. One Man Nation aka Marc Chia (b.1982, Singapore) is currently living in Rotterdam finishing his post-graduate in Media Design at the Piet Zwart Institute. He has collaborated in his short little lifetime with practitioners of various disciplines such as C-drik Fermont, Damo Suzuki, Zai Kuning, Mindfuckingboy, Olaff Kehler, Richard Scott, Katie Duck, Alfredo Genovesi, Soopa Collective and Pierre Bastien.

het geloof in het bestaan van een geindividualiseerde samenleving is voor velen aanwezig in
samenhang met een teloorgang van gemeenschapsvorming. Gemeenschappen hebben ten
opzichte van vroeger een andere vorm aangenomen. Maar verdwenen zijn ze niet. Ze zijn
alleen minder zichtbaar geworden, waardoor het lijkt alsof men meer individueel doet.
De term 'lichte gemeenschappen' van Menno Hurenkamp en Jan Willem Duyvendak hebben
haar geinspireerd om hier visueel onderzoek naar te doen.Lichte gemeenschappen kenmerken zich
door dynamiek en flexibiliteit door vrijwillige verbintens met op ieder moment de mogelijkheid
degroep te verlaten door openheid en nieuwsgierigheid naar de buitenwereld en een minimum
aan gedragsregels.

het URker volkslied eindigt met de zin: Urk, dat is een Soetendal/ wie er is die blift er al.
Het somt precies op waar het op Urk om gaat. Urk was tot 1939 een eiland in de voormailge zuidzee.
In de jaren zestig beleefde Urk een spectaculaire groei. De visindustrie bloeide op en werd de belangrijkste bron
van inkomsten voor velen.Nu is Urk een van de jongste gemeentes van Nederland. De helft van de bevolking is jonger dan 25 jaar. Toch blijft de jonge generatie op Urk wonen. Wat is dat toch, waarom trekken de jongeren niet weg?
Dit heb ik als uitgangspunt gebruikt voor mijn project.

The enchanting cut-and-paste alchemy of the Kazemat label, presented live.
Kazemat presents a new generation of alchemistic cut-and-paste composers, music that is made out of other sources, based on samples and sounds that are put in another context. Many composers have used existing material in their work, like folk melodies, quotations or stylistic elements from other composers. In the twentieth century composers started to use recorded sounds, and in hiphop entire songs are made out of samples of existing music. This tradition is continuing with the ever growing possibilities of technology and digital instruments. Many new artists are finding their own voice and are making beautiful, cinematic and colourful music that is often lost to the music loving audience. The first split LP with Vinkenpeezer and Morsanek will be released in November 2008.
ARTISTS
(DJ) MORSANEK is Amsterdam-based guitarist, DJ, and sound editor Mark Morse. His DJ and editing projects are heavily influenced by extramusical editing techniques and the possibilities of chance music. In these editing works, small timbral and organizational complements are continuously connected and disconnected in an attempt to build a kind of audio narrative from previously unrelated source materials. As an improvising guitarist, Morse uses prepared guitar and a variety of amplifiers to act as a sort of inaccurate sampler or emulator. His most frequent collaborator in this setting is trombonist/composer Hilary Jeffery, but he is also a member of the no-effects guitar quintet The Family Tapes, as well as Sleepgunner, a duo with guitarist/composer Jeroen Kimman dedicated to the music of 1950s close harmony duo The Louvin Brothers.
VINKENPEEZER Soundvillain, cut and paste composer, sonic painter. Vinkenpeezers' music is build out of many tiny sampled fragments that reappear in as a swarming flock of birds, falling apart and building up again in ever changing forms. His music is organic, cinematic, warm and thickly layered, full of contrast. The music is performed live with an unique instrument consisting of game controllers such as the Wii remote, and by acoustic instruments played by musicians that reinterpret his compositions. Vinkenpeezer is Dutch composer, sound artist and performer Ivo Bol, who works internationally with filmmakers, theatremakers and choreographers.
ERIKKMCKENZIE studied fine Arts and dance in Norway before moving to Amsterdam to study choreography in the School for New Dance Development. He is interested in the crossing of disciplines and in collaborative process, and works as musician, video artist, dancer and choreographer. His experiences often create basis for the continuation of his artistic work; with sound or image recordings, or simply from the experience of own reflections. Innovation, fusion and soul are key elements in his artistic outlook. Erikk McKenzie will present HUASCO SONGS live; In 2007 Erikk McKenzie and Gerardo Gonzales did audio and video recordings in Chile related to the political and ecological consequences of Pascua Lama, a gold mine in the high Andes above Valle Huasco. Erikk McKenzie presents a live mix of audio and video recordings, blended with his own electronic music.

Digger Barnes thinks about himself more as a depressive entertainer with a big heart for good songs and strange stories
Pencil Quincy is the inventor of the Magic Machine, and his work the visual counterpart of Digger´s music. The Magic Machine is a simple pre-cinema gadget for handmade animation of Quincy´s artwork and creates moving images that are filmed and sent to the stage via a videobeamer. It can simulate stunning rides through all kinds of sceneries with dramatic changes of light and weather. Digger Barnes is playing simultaniously in front of the screen and becomes part of this simple (road-)movie. A cinematic bastard is born.
