presentation text p.r.e.p.o.s.t.b.y.p.a.s.s - we are not moving in circles the rooms are -

Is a project written and conceived within 3 weeks this 2011 by Judith van der Made, after being selected in a Pitch by The Hague based theatre 'Zeebelt' in connection with TodaysArt festival & Korzo Theater both as well based in The Hague.

The title is a play with the concept of 'Grids' A virtual structure, that both dominates and demands our lives to the core of our being. Combined with the fastly evolving technology and influence on our daily lives.

We started of with a brainscan of all the things we 'hated' about theatre, in a sense we came to the conclusion we wanted to dismantle the whole ' theater' as a place to play and narrate before an audience, with too explicitely audience targeted and overacted dialogues..

Making the space an endless grid sucking up everything in it, becoming a totalitarian experience, no escaping possible. Demoralize the room

The installation performance takes place within the grid.. the audience watches the inner state of the grid: Like a visualisation of the processor and processing of the grid itself: It does not need to be completely clear if it is a grid of the world or the grid of a person or a cluster. As long as it represents these translatable images, sounds and movements, that people can interpretate. like it is in front of a large monitor, googling, youtubing, scanning online for options to decide offline

Our influences came from being video junkies glued to our laptop watching paranoid post-armageddon, scifi movies from the 50's, 60's 80's 90's and the now...

The way Hollywood represents these kinda Gridz in movies like 'The Matrix ,Cube,Tron.'..and the stories popular culture tells us about this massive thing/system....

Also 'the feeling of being stuck' within urban areas all over the world is a thing that caught our attention.

A funny link to Hollywood is also made within the piece (watch the televisions) how Hollywood has represented 'the personification of computers as persons or embodied entity's.
