Colnodo nominated for WSIS prize 2019
Colnodo is a nonprofit organization that for more than 20 years has changed the quality of life of diverse populations in Colombia through processes of appropriation, innovation, advocacy and use of technology for social development organization. Colnodo works 4 strategic programs (online government and electronic democracy, appropriation of ICT, ICT Policy, Knowledge management) and 3 strategic axes (Gender and ICT, Free Software and Sustainable Development).
Specifically on gender work, the nominee has extensive experience promoting the use and appropriation of ICT among women in rural and urban areas. She has provided training in many areas of Colombia and has coordinated projects aimed at strengthening and empowering women through the use of ICT with gender perspectives.
Colnodo was founded after Julian Casasbuenas – one of the founders and currently still director – joined Antenna in 1992 for an internship of 9 months. He became a very close friend and lovely colleague with whom we remain to be in good contact. At first Julian founded Antenna Colombia which became one of the three NGOs who founded jointly Colnodo.
Colnodo is now nominated for the WSIS prize 2019 under the program: Strengthening Equal Opportunities for Women through ICT.
